Caution
He knows he’s aged a lot: he sees it, feels it.
Yet it seems he was young just yesterday.
So brief an interval, so very brief.
And he thinks of Prudence, how it fooled him,
how he always believed—what madness—
that cheat who said: “Tomorrow. You have plenty of time.”
He remembers impulses bridled, the joy
he sacrificed. Every chance he lost
now mocks his senseless caution.
From The old Man, CP Cavafy

It is not that important in life to learn that consciousness is only a collection of stimuli that it unknowingly receives from expressions of audience on its role in the great drama of being; it is more important to refine threads of life with those gems in treasure. Cautious holding of those in the treasure trove antiquates its values while silently wiping out fragrance of its blooming youth !
Brilliant quote ! A meaningful contribution towards redefining moments of life !
Best wishes,
Capris are old men. They are odd men too. and what cavafy says, is called reading the mind. Several people have read it, but none have understood it. The wings are there but would mean anything if there were no chains. And if there were no chains, just to give value to their freedom, men would have invented chains.
Ab khuda jaane kya chahiye, ya kyaa milega. bas itna hi ki dekhnge kyaa de sakey.
Looks like you doing well…
